This is a stock complete exhaust for a 1985 Yamaha XJ700X "Maxim X". The Maxim X was only made for one year, and included such features as water cooling, shaft drive, and the Genesis motor (5 valve). Many Maxim X chassis parts will fit a standard Maxim- you can visit wwwyamaha - motor com or send us an email or call us for part compatibility questions.
This stock exhaust is in very good condition, and should be bolt on and go for any Maxim X. The headpipes include the exhaust collars (exhaust flanges), and the collector and mufflers are all intact. There is some surface rust on the base of each headpipe where it goes into the collector, as well as on the collector and the bottom of the mufflers. The chrome on the mufflers is in very good shape excepting a 2 inch crack of rust on the front part of the right muffler. The chrome rings on the back of the muffler that surround the exhaust outlet are both present and in good shape, with only minor rust that can be easily removed. Overall, this is a good replacement for your rusting exhaust, or a good way to replace an aftermarket exhaust for that stock Maxim X look. Unfortunately the motorcycle it was removed from was not running when we removed the exhaust, so we do not know how well it actually dampens sound, and is thusly sold as-is. The number on each muffler is IAA-14721.
